Lexington, Ohio – Will Owen showed the strength of his race craft over the weekend after finishing third and second in the races of the Royal Purple Pro Mazda Grand Prix of Mid- Ohio. Not only did the 21-year old match his best result of the season, Owen also had his best performance in qualifying, starting both races from third.

Race one was mostly uneventful after a battle on the start with teammate Jake Parsons where Owen was able to maintain his position. No yellow flags or weather influenced the 23-lap race, which allowed Owen to take his AMR Juncos Racing machine straight to the podium in third place.

Race two, which was only hours after race one, had plenty of excitement to challenge Owen and the rest of the field. Starting again from third, Owen was able to make it up to first place at one point within the first lap as he and his competitors continuously swapped positions. Eventually settling into second place, the Colorado based driver led the pack battling for second, third and fourth for an intense few laps before the yellow flag and safety car came out due to rain. The re-start allowed Aaron Telitz, current Pro Mazda Championship points leader, to move around Owen but he immediately took action by making a daring move to reclaim second place, which he held until crossing the finish line. Owen now has six podium finishes as he prepares for the triple race weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca coming up September 9-11th.

"It was a fantastic weekend at Mid-Ohio. I really, really enjoyed racing at this track. I qualified the best I had done all season and was pretty close to first and second. The racing went really well and my race pace was good like it has been over the past few rounds. This weekend I was more aggressive, better at defending my position, and better at attacking the drivers ahead of me. I'm proud of this because it's something I've struggled with for a long time. I've moved away from making big mistakes and now can focus more on fine-tuning some of the smaller ones. I'm very happy with Juncos Racing, as they did everything well this weekend and set up the car very good for the weekend. I'm looking forward for Laguna Seca and hoping to finally win a race."
