Indianapolis, Ind. – Brandon Newey, a junior at Purdue University, will fulfill a lifelong dream this month when he competes in the Pro Mazda Series races on the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Newey has shown promising speed in the first four races of this year’s Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires. The 21-year-old looks to bring that momentum into the inaugural road course races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“I really think we are in a great position to have some strong results,” stated Newey. “The entire team has been working very hard and we have made a lot of progress recently.  I hope that the hard work will pay off in both races at IMS.”

Newey, an Indianapolis native, has enjoyed the challenge of getting up to speed as a rookie in the series this season. He will drive the #82 Team Pelfrey Pro Mazda car that is currently sponsored by Mygale Race Cars.  Newey is working hard to secure the additional funding necessary to compete in all of the Pro Mazda series races this season.

Newey will get his first taste of the new IMS road course today, May 7, when the Pro Mazda Series runs a test day with two 60-minute sessions. The following day, practice sessions will take place from 12-12:45 p.m. and 3:45-4:15 p.m. ET.

Qualifying will begin at 12 p.m. on Friday and then drivers will have just a few short hours before the first race on the 14-turn, 2.434-mile course at 4:30 p.m. ET. Finally, race two will take place on Saturday at 12:10 p.m.
