Minnesota-based squad ready to fight for top honors in Round Six with Meyer, Piedrahita, and Read returning to the cockpits

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The on-going quest for Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires wins and valuable points resumes for JDC MotorSports on Friday (June 14), when the highly-regarded Mazda Road to Indy series travels to the historic Milwaukee Mile. With Zack Meyer, Juan Piedrahita, and Lloyd Read getting back behind the wheels, the three-time championship-winning squad will contest the second and final oval race on the series calendar, confident it can build on the experiences gained in the previous round and official series testing.

As any team or driver will tell you, racing a formula car on an oval presents multiple unique challenges, with a key ingredient to achieving success being experience. Fortunately, JDC MotorSports has plenty to draw on, and its talented trio of racers has recent circle track outings to build from as well.

While the most recent Pro Mazda Championship round at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indiana, during the famed Night Before the 500 event, ultimately did not garner the results desired, it did provide Meyer, Piedrahita, and Read valuable information and experience to draw on entering the second of back-to-back oval races.

This was quickly evident when, only days after Round Five, the field was back on-course via an official series test at the Milwaukee Mile. Meyer indicated his intentions for the upcoming event, placing the No. 66 Damis Partners III/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports entry third on the combined speedcharts when the final checkered flag waved. Only a few tenths back in the No. 9 Petrosur/Sisolec/GFK Motors/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports racer, Piedrahita ended the one-day outing ready to make his mark come race time in Wisconsin as well. Read, having only contested his inaugural oval event in Indiana, meanwhile exited the test pleased with the setup development for his No. 16 Read Motorsports/Aerocraft Design/Maaco/Red Line Oil/JDC MotorSports entry around the fast oval.

The Pro Mazda Championship last raced at the Milwaukee Mile in 2011 and 2009, with JDC MotorSports exiting the two races with a runner-up finish (2009) and a top-four result (2011).

"We had a really good test at Milwaukee," stated Piedrahita. "I think we have a really good car for the race, and I'm looking forward to the weekend."

"Milwaukee will be a great place to wrap up the oval portion of our schedule," added Read. "While we did not get the results we wanted at Lucas Oil Raceway, I am confident that we will have good luck in Milwaukee, and walk away with a sizable amount of championship points."

The JDC MotorSports trio of Meyer, Piedrahita, and Read will begin the chase for top honors at the Milwaukee Mile on Thursday (June 13) with a test session. Race day in Wisconsin commences on Friday (June 14) via two morning practice runs, prior to single-car qualifying at 2:30 pm local time. Round Six of the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires is scheduled to get the green flag at 6 pm local time. About JDC MotorSports:
Involved in formula car racing since its inception in 1994, JDC MotorSports has established itself as one of the leading junior open-wheel teams in North America. Initially making its mark in the F2000 class of club racing competition, JDC MotorSports was soon a team worth watching in the pro ranks. Competing in the Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship, the team not only won races, but also helped develop multiple young drivers. In 2005, JDC MotorSports expanded its efforts, entering the Star Mazda Championship. Quickly becoming one of the top teams in the series, JDC captured both the driver and team titles in 2007, as well as Rookie of the Year honors, with Dane Cameron scoring a series-high three wins. In 2008, JDC MotorSports was the runner-up in the Star Mazda Championship and finished fourth in its inaugural season of F2000 Championship Series competition. The Minnesota-based team won the Star Mazda Championship title with Rookie of the Year Adam Christodoulou, and the F2000 Championship Series title with Chris Miller in 2009. The following year, JDC continued its winning ways, earning the Rookie of the Year award in the Star Mazda Championship with Connor De Phillippi, and scoring a non-points win in the USF2000 National Championship. In 2011, the Minneapolis-based squad captured its third Star Mazda Championship title with Tristan Vautier, scored a win in the USF2000 National Championship, and made its Prototype Lites Championship debut, earning five podium finishes. JDC MotorSports added to its Star Mazda Championship win tally, USF2000 Championship podium total in 2012, and finished as the Prototype Lites Championship runner-up.
