Houston, Texas – Venezuelan driver Diego Ferreira claimed the second place position of the 2013 Pro Mazda Championship while teammate, Scott Anderson, clenched the fifth place position of the Championship during the season finale at the Gran Prix of Houston.  Juncos Racing was also awarded with the second place position in the 2013 Pro Mazda Championship team standings.

Diego Ferreira, 19, driver of the #57 Juncos Racing/Team Viso Venezuela machine, finished fifth in Round 15 and fourth in Round 16 at the Grand Prix of Houston.  During the 2013 season, Ferreira had 11 podiums and finished Top-10 in every 2013 Pro Mazda Championship race.  After a year of much success, Ferreira claimed the title as the second place 2013 Pro Mazda Champion.

“I’m extremely happy to end the season in such a great way,” said Ferreira.  “It was an awesome season for me with 11 podiums in only 16 races.  No words can truly express how happy I am to be the second place Pro Mazda Champion for 2013.  I want to say a huge thank you to my family.  A huge thank you to my team, especially my mechanic, Rob, who was great to work with for the last two years and Ernie, whose work was great.  Thanks to my county of Venezuela, also.  I learned a lot with Juncos Racing and I am very happy to finish the Pro Mazda step in this way and it was one of my goals.”

Rookie Scott Anderson, driving the #44 Juncos Racing/Neuropathy Testing Center, Laser Nail Centers car, continued to stay within the Top-10 positions finishing sixth in round 15 and seventh in Round 16. Anderson finished the 2013 Pro Mazda season with one podium and seven Top-5 finishes.  Anderson was able to claim the title of fifth place 2013 Pro Mazda Champion in his rookie season.

“Houston wasn't the end to the season I was looking for,” said Anderson, “I wanted the best possible result I could get.  I didn't have much to lose since I was pretty secure in points. This might have been the hardest track on our schedule to make passes on. I tried to make some passes but that ended up dropping me further back and doing more harm than good.  Overall, I'm very pleased with how the season went. Results wise, I would have liked to have more wins and more podiums, but I think we proved that we could be one of the fastest cars every weekend.  This might have been the biggest learning year of my career and the Juncos Racing guys really taught me as much as they could outside of the car, which really raised my performance to a whole new level.  I can't thank them enough for their hard work this season and they consistently gave me a quick car.  With this only being my rookie season, it makes me confident going into next year.  Next season, we can focus on putting the whole weekend together and focus on wins rather than learning the car.”

Juncos Racing claimed the title of second in the 2013 Pro Mazda Championship team championship, Ricardo Juncos, Team Owner, was pleased with his drivers performances this season and the hard work of the entire team during the season.

“We had a great season with 12 podium finishes and 20 Top-5 finishes,” said Juncos.  “I am proud of all four drivers we had with us this season.  Scott and Diego worked very hard all year to improve and claim spots on the podium.  It was great to have Julia Ballario and Jose Gutierriez with us for a couple races also and they were great additions to our team.  The team was great all year long and gave the drivers fast cars.  Everyone on the team worked hard and I want to thank them for all of their work this season.  I am looking forward to the 2014 season.  We hope to have more cars in the field next year and we will be working on the Juncos Driver Development Program with our drivers for next season also.”
